When people picture new homes being built, they usually imagine the walls going up, the paint being applied, and families moving in. But long before any of that happens, there’s a different kind of work, quiet, careful, often muddy, that sets everything in motion. That’s where we are right now at Haven Pointe.

We’re still in the early stages out here. Right now, it’s all about foundations. The ground has been prepped, the forms are being installed, and we’re beginning to pour. It might not look like much to passersby — just concrete, rebar, and trenches — but for us, it’s where the story begins. This part of the build isn’t flashy, but it’s critical. Everything else depends on how solid this stage is. A foundation isn’t just a structural requirement; it’s the promise that what we’re building will last. And here at Habitat, we don’t just build homes — we build permanence, security, and a path forward. The crews have been out here day after day, navigating spring weather, watching the site take shape foot by foot. Each lot tells a different story: a future front porch here, a family kitchen over there, and space for growth just starting to show itself. We’ve also got incredible volunteers on the ground — folks who’ve shown up early, stayed late, and put in real work without needing their names in lights. That’s what makes this place feel like a community already, even before the first wall goes up. Next, we’ll be moving into plumbing rough-ins and structural steel. That means underground pipework, water lines, supports, and steel framing — the systems that will sustain these homes for decades to come. There’s something powerful about watching it all take shape, especially knowing that these are more than just buildings. They’re future addresses. They’re stability, long overdue. We’re not just making progress — we’re laying the groundwork for futures. And being here to witness it, to help make it happen, is the kind of work that sticks with you. More updates to come soon as the next phase kicks off. Until then, we keep building.
